What do we need on our first lecture? just pen and paper or do we need to bring course notes/textbooks?
also, i heard there were no tutorials in the first week. Is this true?

Yeah, most uni's have no tutorials on the most week, a pen and paper should be fine :D. (most people haven't even got the textbook yet)

but if possible try to check the webCT (or whatever the new online learning page is called) to see if lecture slides and/or course outline are uploaded yet.
