Firstly you should have a criteria for writing essays
An easy one is PAREE
  • Protection for the individial
  • Accessibility
  • Resource Efficency
  • Equality
  • Effectiveness
Use this criteria to assess the effectiveness of the legal system

I assume your essay is in relation to crime
the information you requested comes under this dotpoint in the syllabus
the criminal process and the role of discretion
  • reporting crime
  • investigation, arrest and charge
  • bail
  • plea, hearing (evidence, procedure, including the role of juries)
  • appeals
  • personnel (police, prosecutors, defence lawyers, magistrates, judges)
Check out the Resources Section

Heres some cases and descriptions I had for police arest and searches in my notes:
Ledwith V. Roberts 1937-two men were arrested for loitering with intent to commit a crime. They took the police to court for false arrest and won. Was the arrest valid? Shows police cannot arrest for no reason.

R V. Walters 1979-man was refused bail as he had committed murder. There was no evidence to prove that he was a thread or that he would flee. He appealed the decision and was granted bail.

For more see the crime LCMD

Good luck :)
