A SUSPICIOUS package left outside the NSW Leagues Club in Sydney has brought the police rescue squad, sniffer dogs and the bomb squad to investigate.
Police say the package was found about 12pm (AEDT) outside a building in Phillip Street, near Martin Place.
A hoard of police arrived to the scene, roped off the area and have closed traffic in Philip Street.
Witnesses say the exclusion zone surrounds the building, where the Leagues' Club is located.
The 21-storey law courts building in Queens Square, between Phillip and Macquarie Streets, was also being evacuated.
Courier Matthew Smith said the suspicious package was under a motorbike parked in Phillip St.
"It's like a tackle box but it had a padlock on it," he said.
"I was in the middle of a job, I've got a tonne of boxes in the street. They (police) told us to stop and come to the end of the street.
"People have been directed out of their buildings and told to go to the end of the street."
Meanwhile, lawyers from the court building were standing on the pavement working on their legal papers.
