How much extra-curricular stuff can you handle in year 12?

Currently I spend (per week):
5 hours learning Chinese (including hwk, etc)
2 hours in art class
4-5 hours on piano (including practice, travel, etc).

Should I be dropping any of these in year 12? My time management isn't great, but if I had more spare time from dropping these, I most likely would not spend it on studying...
At the moment, taking all of these would leave me about 5 hours each week day for homework/study, most of Saturday and 2-3 hours on Sunday.
I'm considering dropping piano or art in year 12 to give myself more time, but they are relatively relaxing activities and enjoyable. Even though Chinese has a much greater workload, I would really like to improve my skills in it...

What extra-curricular activities are current year 11/12 doing? Should I continue doing Chinese, art and piano? How is the workload for my subjects (in signature)?

Even if you stop them, you are not going to devote all that time into studying, to be realistic.

But if you are still worried that you might be affected by that, I suggest you slowly restrict the amount of time you devote them. Stopping that instantly won't do you any good. Take it slowly mate.

Good advice, though it would be a bit hard to slowly restrict planned lessons.

Out of curiosity, what extra-curricular activities do you do?

I don't do much.

I do music lessons at home (used to get one from school though) once a week.

I am involved in table tennis community at Waitara (once a week too)

And I also do some chess which is outside school.

I suddenly don't feel the need to drop anything anymore.

You must have some pretty good time management skills...

not really, it just usually means 7:30 mornings every single school day, and a few lunchtimes. (for the school ones)
chinese is friday nights, saturday mornings are for the music, and sport is usually after school.

but then again, year 11 was a bit of a bludge most of the time. you should be fine. i'm def dropping some for year 12.. in 1 week :O

i used to do violin lessons, orchestra, string ensemble, netball(on saturdays + training) and i worked in year 11.
When i got to yr 12 i did orchestra and soccer(sundays + training)

in yr 11, its not so bad cos you can usually work around it, and it gives you a break from the rush of yr 11
in yr 12, you only wanna do stuff that doesnt take too much of your time and is enjoyable. You need at least one thing which is routine that is a break for you.

as for what to cut down on (if anything), its up to you and how you think your handling in yr 11. then when it comes to yr 12, you'll know what you need to do

dont fret now, you will know when to stop doing these activities - before yr 11, i did 1hour guitar, 1.5 hrs tennis, 1.5 hrs bball, 1hr swimming - now i dont do anything anymore, except go swimming now and then and play tennis

i couldnt see myself stopping playing sport outside school but as the workload increased in yr 11 i stopped, plus i became a bit lazy :p

plus dont freak out in yr 11, its different yeh, but remember its yr 12 that counts :)

The HSC will eat you alive. Wait on... you'd wanna fret about Prelim too! :p

No seriously, it's completely up to you. It's only a matter of trialing your school work with your extra curricular activities. Find the balance and what must go (if necessary).

its with this buddhist group =/ its kinda like a tuition group but operates like a school. we do volunteering and im the editor of the youth magazine which isn't really a magazine but a crappy compilation of stories, operations of the group (volunteering stuff), recounts of the happenings over the year (we have excursions that are way fun^^) etc.

we have bush regeneration a few times a year and clean up australia days :) it's fun. when i finish up with year 12, i'm going back there to teach eng adv i hope^^

anyway :) i decided to join the art gallery of nsw then become a volunteer--54 bucks for a whole year! art <3
