I want one of my elected texts for belonging to be Fight Club the movie.

Does anyone have any ideas that can help me? e.g film techniques or lines of the movie or anaysis of the plot.

I was along the lines of the main character doesnt belong to society but he makes it so he belongs in fight club needing some acceptance in his life etc etc.

Thanks

Bad idea. People have done Fight Club every year - teachers know it, and they hate it. But if you do it really well, it will pay off.

i asked my teacher about fight club for the different texts and she said it was an awesome idea. if i could pull it off would it be good?

or do you strongly suggest choosing another text?

Nah, if you're confident about pulling it off then go for it. I dunno about your school, but at mine, if you've screwed up your assessment, they look towards your related text, and if you've shown some thought and application, and if it's a relatively complex and a good related text, the teacher would look a tad more favourably upon you.

But the fact that your teacher said it was an awesome idea....go for it. ;)

Hi, I believe that Fight Club works well as a related text for 'Belonging'. But beware, it is a complex postmodern text that will require a cultural studies analysis. Fight Club deals with issues of identity and alienation and the paradoxical dichotomy that postmoderism sets up within our lives. In fact there are so many issues within the text it could be easy to loose fous of the concept.

Do it, but do it well. A pity about Aerath's teachers perceptions of the text.

Fight Club is a crazy-good text, I did an in-depth analysis of it for Ext. 1 prelim.. It will require loads more thought and really good knowledge of postmodernism but the juxtaposition of mankind (and the exclusion of women) is really fascinating. The connections with Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde are also very interesting.

V for Vendetta, watched it a long time ago.. forgot the whole thing... but from what i remember i cant recall any belonging theme in there

i see fight club goes with the whole belonging thing. doesnt fit with the whole society sort of scene and belongs with this whole fight club.. and its an awesome movie.

i dont really understand how V for Vendetta has anything to do with belonging?

you could link anything to belonging though, it shouldnt be that hard to connect.

so him belonging to fight club, isnt a link?

or him creating himself a greater image of himself to be accepted in society

or him wanting to belong to society by buying all those ikea products to fill his home.
