I assume VictorTango-9W is asking whether the number of quotes to be included in a response is usually the mark allocation plus one. For example, if a question is worth 5 marks, whether he should include 6 quotes.

Depends how well you analyse to be honest. For SAQs I normally did mark -1 quotes and if I had extra time I'd do more. So like a 4 mark question would have 3 quotes. For those higher mark questions 6+ marks, you'd be structuring it as a mini essay. Quantity does not get you marks.
