Ive got a question if your major work is a short story. Can your story be any genre or does it have to be one you studied or something?

It can be any genre you like, as long as you can justify why you used it.

It doesn't have to be one you studied, you just have to link your MW at the end, in any way, to something you studied in English. But this doesn't necessarily have to be through genre.
