My teacher gave me this question and I can't quite get it, bit of help would be good.

A 3.0kg ball is hanging by a string from the ceiling of a bus. As the bus turns a corner the angle between the string and the vertical from the floor of the bus is 10 degrees.

a) Label the forces Acting on the Ball (Easy done this already)
b)Us an appropriate vector diagram, calculate the tension in the string as the bus turns a corner ( Done bit harder its 29.85N)

c) Calculate the acceleration of the bus (This threw me I really don't get it)

d)At what angle would the ball and string be if the bus was breaking at 2.5m/s/s (I'd assume the answer from (c) would be required)

Any help would be appreciated

Let the combine force of G(gravity) and string tension be F

F=G x Tan 10
F=(3x9.8) x tan 10
F=5.184 (4 significant figures)

or

F=cos80 x 29.85
F=5.184

Using a=F/m
a=5.184/3
a=1.728 (4 significant figures)

the acceleration of the bus is opposite the ball thus the bus' acceleration is a=-1.728 depending what way you want to look at it.

You can now do the last question:)
