do you need the textbook to do the exercises?

they give you the answers to everything! they werent very good answers in that they dont help you understand the entire concept, they just show you what they'd expect you to explain in an exam

you need the textbook for studying throughout semester though, and for preparing for and understanding the practicals

Personally I never did HBOnline because it was just extracts from the textbook. I just made my own notes instead. However, I would highly recommend getting the textbook!
