I got into b ENg/ b Sci. I have read that you gotta choose subjects for it. What the hell is this i mean is it like highschool electives or sumthin different. Also do i have to choose my majors n minors now or later

I still can't find it .

In the virtual handbook and the faculty handbook, it seems to just say "Students enrolled in any Science degree may normally only take as electives any courses (subject to satisfying prerequisites) which are specified as electives for their degree, or available within a major or minor in program 3970." but when I look at my degree, I can't seem to find any mention of any specifc electives.

When I look on the faculty website, I seem to get linked back to one the virtual or faculty handbook again.

I'm not sure about this one.

My gut feeling is that in first year you wouldn't have met the pre-reqs for other courses yet so there are some "free" electives, and usually a free elective is implied unless you get told otherwise.

You might want to email the Maths first year director and be sure.

I already read the virtual handbook and as for what major in engineering, mechatronic. I have seen the subjects listed but my friends told me that we choose what subjects we study. But how is that possible if they have a predefined plan. Another thing do we choose a major in science and if so how is it possible considering the science degree will ultimately take around 60credit points whereas a normal B Sc takes 160 or sumthin like dat?????!!!

The plan suggest which courses (the subjects) you undertake in a year. E.g. MATH1131 to be taken in semester one. So you enrol into MATH1131. Later on you will learn that you don't have to strictly follow the plan, but for now the plan tells you which courses (the subject, e.g. MATH1131) to enrol this year.

Because B Eng / B Sc is a combined degree, some of the courses which are part of a single Science degree are common to a Engineering degree e.g. maths, physics etc. so you only need to undertake another 60 uoc (which is approx 10 courses) for you to be eligible for another Science degree. Though it may not be a single science degree.
