Today was my first day of year 11 and first time walking into my Chem class, I was excited to learn some content only to be sitting through a one hour lecture by my teacher on why we should rethink our choices on choosing Chem because its not an easy subject. Basically he was scaring us into dropping the subject. Now I'm a bit conflicted on whether or not i should REALLY be doing chem. Throughout year 10 I mostly got 80s in science exams so I wouldn't say I'm THAT great at science, which has me thinking if im not extraordinarily good at science (like 90s good) from year 10 am I really fit to do chem? I was hoping someone could give me a sort of brief overview on their experiences with doing Chem and clarify if it really is as hard as people make it out to be.

Yes it is a hard subject BUT if you put in the hard work you will do great. It requires a lot of memorisation and problem solving so be prepared for that. Realistically u just have to study hats the simple truth and if you aren't motivated to do this yes you will probably do bad.

bro dw ab thinking if a subject is too hard for u. i remember being in yr 11 thinking i was in over my head picking science when i got 70’s in yr 9, but, as u will too, i studied extra hard n locked in. i improved a LOT. just imagine urself alr successful n getting a band 6

PS teachers scare u to test u - they want the kids who don’t care to drop n the motivated, diligent students like u to work even harder. stay strong!
