Hours at UNSW

Moderator Edit:

News update

The Academic Board has rejected the purely WAM-based Honours model because there was not enough emphasis on research. A new proposal is being submitted to the Board involving research. According to the student representatives who sit on the Academic Board, it will probably require:

(a) Rankings -- First-class: top 10% (WAM is usually about 80), Second-class: next 20% (WAM is usually about 75); AND

(b) Research -- Either 3 law research essays of over 3,000 words composed over the student's degree OR the Research Thesis subject (8 UoC - it goes for one semester).

Keep in mind this is not yet set in concrete and also the Board must approve.

Yes, there is honours. You just have to achieve in a certain percentage, a bigger amount for 2nd class honours... That's for the non-year thesis. I'm not sure about doing a thesis for a year.

Have you wondered why you can't find info on it?
Or is it that intellectually esoteric kind of thing.

hahahah, get to the bottom of it? At a university?

A university is the best example of a bureaucracy I've ever seen:

"Pwar: Hi, er sorry, I was wondering how one gets special considerations for exa-

Pwar: Er...Ye-

Secretary 2: Hello, what can I do for you?
Pwar: Hi, I was wondering how one applies for special considerations.
Secretary 2: Yes, you need to talk to the humanities division...
Pwar: I think I just spoke to them. I was also told this is the humanities division.
Secretary 2: No, hun, this is humanities admin.
Pwar: Oh...
Secretary 2: Putting you through now.
Pwar: Err?
Secretary 3: Hello, humanities desk.
Pwar: Hi, I was enquiring about special considerations.
Secretary 3: Ah, you've come to the right place
Pwar: Good!
Secretary 3: First, you need the professional advice slip. This needs to be stamped by your GP, and, stappled on the top left corner, a doctor's certificate needs to be attached. Then you need an intent to claim special considerations slip, the special considerations form, and the advice for special consideratiosn.
Pwar: err, ok...
Secretary 3: You need to take all the documents, and get them all photocopied 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, times, respectively. All copies must be certified by either a JP or myself, but I'm generally too lazy to do it, so go with 50 minutes in a line to get one signature and a stamp. You then need to take the various documents, to W5A Level one, level two, and to the lincoln building. You also need to drop off the advice for special considerations to your department's dean, your division dean, your course convener, your lecturer, and your tutor. Hence, the 8 photocopies. Get them to sign each photocopy, and get these photocopies, staple them, and walk up to E7B, where there you will hear a phone ring. Three times. Pick up on the third ring and say "hopscotch". At this point, you will have completed the first step and will require professional documents supporting your saying of "hopscotch". Got it? .... Hello?....... Hellooo?

people shouldn't get special consideration for anything

if i was an employer i'd want to know who the feeble bodied students were so that i could weed them out before the interview process

i heard you're a fucking wanker. :)

coz why would the first-class' requirement (HD-avg = >85%) be lower than the second-class' (95%), but for the fact that you're a lying wanker :)

get out of my thread.

yes, but the fact of the matter is the prettiness of a law testamur that says Honours (First Class). plus, i would like to do a thesis elective. :)
