[sarcasm]If you managed to locate the place where HSC Exams are marked and offered a free bang to a desperate marker, I think you can [/sarcasm]

It entirely depends on your ranking ...

The marks that you get depend on your ranking, but that's not what he's asking. He wants to know what HSC marks he needs to get 95+.

Re: How many bang 6 is needed for UAI 95+?

LottoX is correct. And seriously, there's one girl in pharmacy who only got 3 units above 90+ (and no, none of them are high scaling in the sense of 4U Maths) and she's in a HECS place, i.e. her UAI is comfortably above 95. So it's about how well you've done, not what units are above 90 (though it just happens that if you get all units above 90, you're doing well, hence the high UAIs)

Re: How many bang 6 is needed for UAI 95+?

I always wondered about this....if a person in their school was coming dead last in everything, but they ended up gettin 100% in all their exams what do you reckon their UAI would be?? (ITS NOT ME :p)
On a similar note, my rankings are average, which makes me looking at a UAI round 85-90 (got 87 estimate i think)... how many 6's do you reckon i would need in the actual HSC to get a 92+ UAI

Again, depends on the subject, but usually just one or two band 6s would do.

I have my heart set on being a primary teacher and need a uai of 70.00... i know it sounds pitiful but what bands will i be needing to achieve? my ranks are all 1 except for biology (4th) and adv. english (2nd). I do ext. 1 english, adv. english, dance, pdhpe, biology and legal studies by distance ed.

I got 4 band 6's and only 93.45. Weren't really low scaling either. Let down by maths I assume.

You really cant estimate how many Band 5' or 6's you need to get a high UAI. It all depends on your class rank, quality of school and the types of subjects you are doing. For example i got 2 Band 6's and 5 band 5's (in the mid to high range) and still got a UAI of 89.85, so you really have to factor in alot of different things. It is pretty diffficult to predict what you UAI you will get by just estimating a certain number of Band 6's.

The best advise i can give you is study hard and try your best in every subject and i am sure the cards will all fall right :)

English Advanced: 1/25 = 90
English Extension 1: 1/5 = 45
English Extension 2: 1/4 = 47
Modern History: 1/20 = 89
Ancient History: 1/22 = 90
Legal Studies: 1/18 =94
History Extension: 1/12 =49
Studies of Religion II: 2/30 = 92

lets just say that my school is a low performing one. The average is usually low but there are always one or two high achievers. Does it matter if my ranks and marks are way ahead of everyone else?

Put it this way. Marks aren't that useful in estimations since different schools have different standards. Having ranks of both the student and the school, then its likely to give a much more accurate approximation.

Having said that though, if your marks are significantly higher than the rest of your cohort, then any estimation wildly inaccurate given theres no way to gauge your position in relation to the rest of the state.

However, be happy with the fact that by comming first in almost everything, what ever mark you get will be determined by your performance in the HSC exams. Do well in those and you will get good marks.
