Hi there, I want to know ways how I can improve my extended response that is the last two sections in a business studies exam paper. I pick up alot of marks from short answers and multiple choice, but i tend to pick up only 12 or 14 out of 20.

Im fine with the 1st and 2nd section. Ive maximised it already, but the only problem i have now is the last part.

can you help me thanks =)

practice practice practice.

Get your teachers to give you past HSC/trial papers. And then force them to mark em.

First of all 12 to 14 is pretty good at this stage of the year
This advice is for the case study question

You need to make sure you anwser the question!
It is important you underline the key word such as describe.
This is important as it will determine how much you write.

Most extened respones will have words like describe or analyse in business studies.
You need to always link your theory with your case study.
For example if the question is asking you the financial ratios such as liquidity, you need to define what liuqudity is and how that relates to your business
Treat the marker like their stupid!
This will mean you know what the threory is and how you can realte business case studies.
It is also better if you know a case study really well and other case studies breifly

trust me!
i got 92 for business studies!

For long responses know your syllabus. This will form not only the structure but the content of your responses. For example if you are asked to recommend strategies to improve liquidity you can think back to the (memorised) syllabus and to the 'effective working capital (liquidity) management' heading then the 'strategies for managing working capital' sub heading and finally 'leasing, factoring, sale and lease back' for your detailed strategies. Thus, memorise the syllabus as this is what the markers are looking for.
