Was the leader of the development team for the US Saturn series rockets which got men on the moon. If I remember correctly.
Well, Von Braun was a pioneer in the field of rocketry, especially regarding the development of intercontinental ballistic missiles. The technology from that was adapted to the rockets used for both Projects Mercury and Gemini. Also, he was instrumental in developing the Saturn V rocket which were used in the Apollo Missions.
