Like any other drama essay, Irish drama involves looking at all the elements of the script (i.e. language, setting, characterisation etc.) as well as looking at the context of both the playwrights as well as Ireland herself. It is also pretty smart to include supplementary material relevant to the plays you are doing.
Our class has been doing The Playboy of the Western World and The Plough and The Stars so my essay structure went along these lines:
1. Intro and thesis related to the question
2. Info about Ireland context as well as context of playwrights
3. Setting, techiniques and stage directions
4. Characters
5. Language and dramatic technique
6. Supp material
7. Conclusion
Each paragraph having thesis as main base for discussion.
That was a 9/10.
HOPE THIS HELPS
BTW: the question essentially wont change, its pretty easy to predict.
PS Fanona - you wouldnt get away with handing in my essay this time, i think she'd notice hehehehe
