We had a 2u maths hsc assessment on the second last day of school [ thursday ] and two classes had their exam in portables outside the school building with the 3u classes inside the actual building; but for about the last 20minutes of our exam that stupid Carlos [ '04 oz-idol reject contestant ] was performing some wanky concert at our school directly outside the portables. :chainsaw:

the floors and our feet were vibrating from the music + the juniors screaming and shouting o__O

are they allowed to do this!??

well i dun think there's a specific legality for such a scenario, but i think the general rule is that school should be a place where teachers can teach and students can learn (this includes taking examinations).

if you feel that you and your peers have been disadvantaged because of the presence of the stupid pop concert then i think you should be able to complain to either the head of the maths department, or if that gets nowhere, then to the deputy-principal or principal. also, have parental backing to ensure your claim is taken seriously.

if that still doesn't resolve the issue, ring your lawyer and favourite newspaper ;)

and if that doesnt work with the internal exam as komaticon suggested, then contact the board of studies about the issue.

Damn right it's illegal. I thought Channel 10 had to shoot all the Idol contestants after the show finished.

That's what they did with Casey Donnovan, anywho...They should do it to bloody Callea, too. If not for his lameo songs, for Melsc ={D

You should make the biggest fuss you can; throw a tantrum like any self-respecting 5-year-old and they should pay attention to the fact that it was a tactical mistake to allow that. However this is not something you should do very often because it leads to anal retentive schools.

On a total irrelevant note. My friend used to go out with Carlos. Well she's not really my friend, she's a friend of a friend but u get the point.

I totally feel sorry for u though.
