So im in year 11 at the moment and I plan to study engineering at uni after I complete the HSC.

My question is however, is it worth going to UTS and graduating after 5 years with a diploma in engineering practise as well as a degree, or would i be better off going to another university and graduating after 4 years without a diploma in engineering practise. Is it good to have completed a full years work experience as an undergraduate? Does the diploma give you an edge over other graduates when applying for jobs? or is it more of a marketing scheme?

Any thoughts would be helpful thanks.

I doubt it.

If you do one year of solid, good experience perhaps, yes. However UTS does not arrange this for you, you have to do it yourself. Hence if you are a basement Asian this is a bad idea for you.
