Hello just wondering...is james-ann any good for grade 9-10 maths?

I am going to Matrix at the moment, they charged $500 (including first enrollment fee) for the term (9 lessons).

I went there due to the good recommendations by others...the truth is, I am finding that although the class teachers are good, theory booklets are okay, 1 1/2 hours don't seem like enough time for me... it goes by really quickly, the teachers don't have time to properly explain everything all the time. It's also getting a little on the expensive side...(because I have home tuition atm as well)

So...I'm thinking about whether I should go somewhere else... I heard James-Ann for maths is good?? Because they explain things to you thoroughly...is this true? I also heard the sessions are longer??

Thank you.

I went to James An during primary school, I'm not entirely sure, but I've heard that James An is excellent for primary school but not that good once you reach high school.

call up APEX education group for high quality tutoring, you can choose between one on one or group.

contact them on apex.edu.group@gmail.com

they have teachers that specialise in different years and provided you with great teaching.

Eh.. i think it depends! Some teachers are so good, even half an hour seems like 2 hours of work! Some teachers are so terrible.. sitting thorugh their classes even for a minute is sheer torture.

My question is why go to a centre if you feel it is not giving you what you pay for? Matrix is so overrated.. i went there once to ask for information and they din want to give out much info. Seems to be a lil secretive... but their setup looks great though..

it was quite crap when I went there back in year 6 and 7, and I heard from a couple of my friends that its still pretty crap, cheaper than other well-established institutions but definitely crapper in tutoring stuff. If u want a good reccommendation, I suggest talent-100 as theyve got 3hr classes and have really good tutors and pretty good notes... though the cost is about the same as matrix, so it all depends on how much u wanna spend for good tutoring

James ann is good for primary school but i dont think its good for highschool....i went to james an in year 10....all my science teacher basically did was read out wat was in the textbook and then made us do the stuff in booklets o_O
i think talent 100 is good for year 10 but the thing is that they dont concentrate on school certificate...rather they give u a headstart for the prelim course ... but the cost is alot...personally i dont think u need much tutoring for year 9-10... save it for prelim and HSC

I have friends who are doing really well at maths who are going to James An.

Personally, went there for about like 2 terms (not sure) for the selective tests in primary. Biggest loss of $650 ever!

I don't know if James An is same everywhere, but I went to the one in Caringbah and it was crap as. They covered topics that my school had done already (which I don't think is useful at all because the main purpose of going tutoring is to achieve better results) and didn't set enough homework.

According to my friends, Matrix is the best tutoring centre in that area so maybe you should stick with it. :p But yeah, I don't think 1.5 hours is enough. Right now, I'm doing 3 hours and we still go overtime, lol.
