The Krebs (or Citric Acid) Cycle is a process that's part of cellular respiration. It follows glycolysis or beta-oxidation and chemically converts carbohydrates, fats and proteins into carbon dioxide and water. It takes place in mitochondria (in eukaryotes). It is followed by the electron transport chain, where ATP is synthesised.

I am so confused now! I thought the 3 energy systems were: ATP/CP, Lactic Acid/ Anaerobic Glycolysis, and Aerobic.

What is the connection (if any) between this 'citric acid' or Krebs cycle and the Lactic Acid sysyem????
