La Trobe University student dies after falling down stairwell at campus residence (1 Viewer)

UPDATE 11.30am: A 20-YEAR-old about to begin his university studies at La Trobe has died after falling down a stairwell during orientation week. The Lakes Entrance man fell approximately eight metres from the third floor of his college accommodation at La Trobe University's Bundoora campus, in Melbourne's northeast, about 2.25am today.
Police say the 20-year-old had been returning to his dorm room on the second floor after spending the evening with friends on the third floor.
Paramedics found him dead at the base of the stairs on their arrival at the scene.
There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death but a report will be prepared for the coroner.
A university spokesman said the student had been living at the college for only a few days.
He said the official 'O' Week festivities had ended at 11pm yesterday.


"What happened after that we're not sure,'' the spokesman said.
"It's a terrible accident.''
Counselling has been offered to students and staff on campus.
The university plans to hold a commemorative service for the student.
The death comes two years after that of another 20-year-old student, Matthew Atwood, who fell through a plate-glass window at La Trobe's Bendigo campus after partying with friends.
The US exchange student had been in Australia for only three days.

Yeah or he just got pissed like anyone else our age and fell over in both a combination of alcohol and misjudgement.

Don't think him being American really has anything to do with it, especially given the magical powers of the universe don't mean that they 'cant' drink until 21.

You're wrong. Europeans have undergone natural selection for alcohol tolerance. The current generation is build with the corpses of thousands of dead drunks. Meanwhile, Africans, not having alcohol as a significant part of their culture, have undergone less selection for alcohol tolerance gene.

As America has alarge proportion of black people it can only be assumed that many people there have trace amounts of black genes, and hence the person above has less alcohol tolerance due to his probably mixed ancestry.
