Well, I'm hoping to get by (for the first year at least) with my Microsoft surface, which you could get for just over $300. has full office suite browser...
I'm not going to NEED something that can run desktop apps am I? I have a desktop pc at home, and if I need to use a desktop program whilst on campus, I can use the computers on campus?

As for OP, If you plan to use this pc for day-to-day stuff as well as uni, I'd get the touch screen one. But if you already have a computer at home for browsing, shopping, games etc, then maybe smaller, lighter ultrabook would suffice? or even a tablet?
