those asylum seekers should be lucky, any other country would have shot them on sight for trying to illegally enter the country

Please name a civilized nation that does that.

You just seem to spout your Paleolithic nonsense without ever finding the wit and =sense to back it up.

You're goddamn right, we should shoot those bloody boat people. Russia, China and Iran? Simply exemplar model countries. We should follow their superior system.

Re: Let Them Stay: protesters gather around Australia to prevent return of asylum see

THis is a wicked problem (a problem that creates more problems once it is solved).

If you accept more refugees + asylum seekers, more will come and drown (as seen in the rudd period) ... we will also have to foot a bill and have social dis-cohesion (look at germany)

If you deny refugees + asylum seekers (people will suffer back at their own countries).

Either way people are suffering and the only way to stop the problem of refugees at all is to stop war (which I understand that it isn't easy at all).

There's also a catch 22 here. If you accept refugees + asylum seekers, you will cop some flack for supporting people smugglers business (by giving people an incentive to come) and if you deny refugees + asylum seekers ,...then the nation will be condemned for human rights.

I am actually 50/ 50 on this.

Please back this wild presumption up with evidence.
It's actaully probably half to a quarter true... Also, places like Japan, deny Muslims from obtaining citizenship and also do not let them own any Japanese land...

In Russia, couple (around 50-60) of migrants deported from Norway decided to play grabby in a nightclub on an 18 year old... Long story short, they got their arse beaten to a pulp by the clubs patrons, police arrived, they kept beating the shit out of them...

Re: Let Them Stay: protesters gather around Australia to prevent return of asylum see

I kind of actually have changed my mind a bit about accepting refugees from places like Syria after reading this article on SMH and seeing many other like it. Its actually not a good idea, as much as my fellow leftists had like it to be. A good example is a look at the Lebanese community over here, most of whom are descendants of refugees. Most of the refugees leaving Syria happen to be Sunni Muslims from low socio-economic backgrounds, so they are more inclined to extremism and crime.
What would make Shia Muslims different?

There just happens to be a much less of an inclination of Shia Muslims towards extremism and violence. The overwhelming majority of extremist groups like ISIS, Al-Qaeda, Boko Haram, Taliban, Al Shebab and many others all happen to be Sunni. There are reasons why Sunni Muslims from low-socio economic backgrounds are more inclined towards extremism.

Sunnis from low social economic backgrounds have been targeted for the last many decades in a brainwashing propaganda instituted by oil rich countries of Saudi Arabia. This propaganda has been disseminated worldwide to under-privileged Sunni communities under the guise of books, religious laws, editorials and media campaigns. Its effects have been tremendous, all the way from North Africa to South East Asia, Sunni Muslims have been flirting with several form of extremism. Its all in all just sad.
Also would like to point that Shia's do have a de-facto leader in the form of Ayotollah Komeni. Other than declaring war against ISIS/Daesh and Israel, he seems pretty peaceful.
