linux media player (1 Viewer)

i have searched everywhere.

is there a media player other than xmms for linux. since xmms makes mp3s crackle and doesn't seem to support wma.

Try mpg123 and mplayer.

mplayer - plays almost everything provided you have the correct codecs.

Give xine a shot too. Plays dvds etc for me

If you have Redhat, it's easier to get it running if you install it via apt:

http://freshrpms.net/apt

After you've apt using 'rpm -Uvh *apt*rpm', type the following:

apt-get update
apt-get install mplayer mplayer-fonts mplayer-skins

That should do it.

i tried mpg123 b4 but i can't seem to install it, it keeps saying error, no matter what i try.

i'll give the others a shot tomorrow

mp3blaster is good, but it is console based. So its not fancy.

realplayer also has been ported to linux.

lol, i think that depends on the brand. With all the copyright protection in the sony products i doubt there is a free linux version

The brand is Sony. I know there probably isn't an official Sony one, but otherwise isn't there any other programs??

Well, as for the MD, theres hope someone wrote something... so keep googling it

There is Totem, sound and media player, with a playlist function.

I think it supports WMA.
