Although i know quite a few people going to unsw, i'll be going to oweek by myself at the start of the day.

You could always pop over the hsc chatroom and get to know the 163854354354834354 unsw people in there.

Sign up for one of those tours around uni. You'll meet a few people and keep going from there.

If you don't want to go to make friends- at least go to get a feel for everything and pretend to have some fun, you might actually have some in the process! :)

yeah i should probably warn you about cazza, if you're blonde and have blue or green eyes, he'll just come up and start humping your leg.

Edit: yeah those compus/faculty tours would be the best idea.

I thought the whole point of O-week was to meet new people and get orientated to the uni. I'll doubt you'll be the only one going alone.

Most first years are in the same boat - it doesn't matter! The strange thing about o-week is that a lot of the awkward feeling about talking to new people is lacking, because everyone is in the same situation. There's a great atmosphere in the whole week. The suggestion of doing tours is a great one - as well, the yellow shirts who run the tours are there to help and be talked to, we don't bite! Going to your faculty welcome is probably a good start too because you'll meet people in your course.

I'll have to say you might not actually meet any new friends at o-week, probably not any long lasting ones anyway.

The campus tours are nice since they're in small groups and you might get to socialise with the people - but theres a good chance you'll never seem them again because they're doing a totally different program to you. Then theres people that go in groups to stay with friends (which would be a fair majority).

Once tutes and lectures start you can always strike up conversations with people. As random as that may seem its really not that weird and people would understand why.
