is a BBA at macquarie any good?? i thought it was heaps good but now im having second thoughts.....prospect job related wise anyway...

the arts-psychology/bba degree.... they don't exactly go together do they?? i mean u either go into business or go into psychology.... i guess it would be good if u wanted to do human resource management which is something im thinking about going into but where would this double degree take me?? I mean i should have just gone to UWS and done pure Human resource degree there if i wanted to do human resource but im not sure what i want to do....

i want $$$ but i also want to do something i'll be happy doing... psychology sounds a lot more fun than accounting but in the back of my head im thinking of transferring to a

bba/commerce-accounting

does anyone know if we're allowed to make our own combinations?? i wouldn't mind doing a bba/commerce-marketing degree

i think mac is pretty flexible so you may be able to do what you want

but what i want to know is - what is bba?? bachelor business admin?

there is a new BBA course specialise in Human Resources in 2005 may be you can check it if you are interested.

I think if you study psychology you study about human nature etc and it is good to put it as practical in business too since in business you need to deal with people.

Macquarie is flexible! You can even do a triple degree, and their is no "recommended program for that".

Well you're gonna stick out for employers. No other uni in Sydney has that combo offered.

I orginally started doing that combined degree myself before dropping psych for law.

There is no bba-bcom-marketing degree as such, though u could do it I guess (might take you longer than the other combos that exist).

Personally I would suggest BBA with Psych if you find it interesting... ACCG is about as appealing as bat shit to me...but then it could be someone else's cup of tea.

B International Business sounds tops as well I reckon.

Wots the deal w/ the International Business degree? Do u just do normal commerce-type subjects & learn a language to make it 'international'?

you're going to be dealing with people for the rest of your life. a knowledge of psychology would be a handy thing to have, even (or especially) if your doing something in business. the history of modern marketing has its roots in psychology, ie it didnt really start to take off till they got some psychologists to tell them the best way to reach people.

noone makes money doing degrees (i think a phd students salary is approx $30k, and theres no guarentee of uber $ afterwards).

i find now im older(ish), i no longer have any idea what i want to do, my long term plans change on a moreorless weekly basis. you'll change and mature over time, its inevitable, and then you become your parents.

i think about it like this: degrees (or education) opens doors, and its up to you to choose which doors to open. i have nfi what i want to do with my life at this point of time so im making sure i set things up so when i do work out what i want to do (probably when im about 35) ill be able to pursue it.

i dont really know, is there much difference between the content in bba and a commerce degree? also you say you'd be interested in marketing. dont forget theres postgraduate courses, that are more specialised and more interesting (imo). so you could finish your bba/psych degree, then do a postgrad course in marketing or commerce, and by that time youll probably be a little clearer on what you want to do when you leave uni. postgrad courses vary in length from 6 months (graduate diploma) up to 2-3 years. this way, if you have a midlife crisis when your 35 and decide you really wanted to do psychology all along, you still have your psych degree that you can take advantage of.

eg, in my case im doing a BSc in computing (which i more or less hate but im nearly finished) and next year ill do a postgrad course in something that interests me. this will let me further myself professionally (coz i have already worked in the IT industry for about five years and am a bit over it), and give me more options. postgrad courses take way less time than undergrad degrees, and you can cut out a lot of crap your not interested in (eg i can do applied finance/economics without studying management/accounting/marketing in a M.Comm).
