I understand the idea of a company providing support in the form of mangerial assistance and technical expertise, but i don get how its a form of expansion, arent they just helping out another business in a different country?

well thats kinda vague.....but the business giving assistance does get paid a fee for helping the subsidiary, and they do get a say in how they run the business......for example, hilton hotel sends out trained staff to overseas hilton hotels to assist in management, so in the end they are all run in the same way as the parent company......i think thats how it works :S
