Thanks

Also, about interpolation. Do we need to know the following:

- minimax approx
- least squares approx
- Newton Difference tables

Are these going ot be on the exam?

Thanks

all of chaps 15 and 16 - thats ALL differential (dw, it ain't that bad...)
for interpolation, methinks we just have to know the Newton's method and the Lagrange method, nothing else. That chapter on interpolation was crap.

side note: algebra is tying my brain in twisted little knots. yes. yes it is.

Thanks heaps for your help mini.

yeah interpolation is shocking. Im glad you told me its just Lagrange and Newton!!

I agree with you on the algebra part. I have no idea on all that vector stuff and group theory!!!

Hello,

Can someone please help who has done the 2003 past paper.
In Q2 part a part II) it says to find an invertible matrix and diagonal matrix..... however the eigenvalues are 0,1,-1, and according to my notes, a matrix is not invertible if their is an eigenvalue = 0

Can somebody please help

Thanks

we apparently have to study all of chen's stuff

next question:

f(x, y) = xy
2x^2 − y^2

how do we prove that it is not continuous (or maybe is  ) at (0,0)

hahah...the exam was .....soso....couldn't say it was full hard...but u did need to know your stuff for higher marks ...algebra had more theory related questions....
i found the hardest question to be the group theory one coz i didn't know anything about intersections of 2 subgroups
