hello guys
Currently Im in year 11 and going to sit for the 2unit math hsc at the end of this year. By next year im hoping to do extension 2 math.

I was wondering; Does my 2unit mark become 100? When im inputting marks into the sam calculator; Do i input 100 2unit or my desired mark?

Confused

I'm a little confused by what you are asking.

If you are planning to do 4 unit dont put in a mark for 2 unit, as it will not count, and put youre desired marks for 3 unit and 4 unit out of 100.

If you are not doing four unit, put in your desired mark for 2 unit. If that happens to be 100 then put in 100. If not, put in what you think you will get, or want to get

You don't get a 2unit mark if you do 4unit in year 12.

If you accelerate in Mathematics 2 Unit, the 2 Unit mark remains as it is on your HSC record regardless of whether you do Extension 2 or not. However, if you opt to take Extension 2, then your 2 unit marks are completely ignored when it comes to scaling and unit counts. Only Extension 1 (2 units) and Extension 2 (2 units) will contribute to your overall unit count and scaled marks.

ye the 4 units is 2U for ext.1 and 2U for ext. 2... that's why they hold the maths 2U and the maths 4U on the same day at the same time.

btw most guys will tell you that u should spend equal time on both but 4U is so much work... :(

Once you pick up 4unit maths, you no longer do 2unit maths.

You do not get any mark at all for 2unit.

Everybody who does Ext1 or 2 maths must do 2unit in year 11.

ur half wrong, if u did 2u in yr11 u cant do ext1 maths in yr12, but if u did 2u maths in yr 11 u can do 2u in yr12, if u did 3u maths in yr 11 then u can do 4u in yr12, depends wat mark u got
btw if u do 4u maths in yr12 thers no score for 2u math, its not even counted on ur HSC

when you do 4 units your maths ext 1 and ext 2 marks are weighted as a 2unit course for UAI calculation

for example when my UAI was calculated the subjects taken were:

English advance (2 units)
Physics (2units)
Chemistry (2 units)
Mathematics extension 1 (2 units)
Mathematics extension 2 (2 units)

You go malek fahd by any chance?
And yeah it does.
But if you wanna do 4un next yr, you need to make sure you do 2un this yr otherwise he wont let u sit for it.
And dont forget about that term scholarship

EDIT: Okay, you do go malek fahd {checked your profile}. Good luck with that =]

On your formal HSC sheet, it'll say that because you done 4unit, the board has assumed you have 100% knowledge of the 2unit course. But you do get a mark for 2unit { they send you a hsc sheet at the end of yr 11, with your results but it just says 'not eligible for uai'. }

If you do 4uni next yr, it doesn't count. But 3un and 2un count if you don't do 4un.

Looking at the SAM, there was 1 unit one for Extension 2 Mathematics

Does it mean that you can count HSC Mathematics as 2 units, 1 unit for Extension 1 and another unit for Extension 2 instead of putting Extension 1 as 2 units and Extension 2 as another 2 units?

I need a clear answer to this...

Thanks in advance

Nope, If you choose extension 2 and sit for the hsc exam, they disregard your 2 unit mark. Extension 1 and extension 2 each count for 2 units.

That doesn't mean you get a HSC mark for 2unit; it means you get a preliminary mark for 2unit.

No, I'm not half wrong. You can NOT do 3unit or 4unit maths without having done 2unit maths in year 11, barring some special acceleration exemptions.

If you do 4unit:

Mathematics Advanced 2unit can never and will never count. Even if it is a higher mark. If you do 4unit, then you have 4 units of maths in total: 2 from 4unit and 2 from 3unit.

If you do 3unit:

Mathematics Advanced 2unit counts for 2 units and Mathematics Extension 1 counts for an another one unit.
