hello,

Wat would u choose?

- Mechatronics USYD or
- Mechatronics UTS

USyd, because it's 4 years and not 5, and just because the faculty makes me feel better than the UTS sterile office tower

lol, syd is very big, but u only get 3 months industrial training, at uts it is 12 months

That's what the extra year out of uni is for, working in industry.

im leaning towards uts, but i just cant really differentiate the both.

But for uts u have 2 periods of industrial training, which allows u to work at 2 companies. At the end of it u also evaluate ur training.

At USyd you have AN EXTRA YEAR IN THE WORKPLACE, which enables you to gather the skills while being at full pay.

ive made a list of the ad and disad of uts and usyd

- closer to station, dont need to catch a bus

USyd

- rooms and buildings are dull and old

these are my opinions that leads to my confusion

Redfern station is almost as close to the engo faculty as the Central is to UTS, and even if you're coming from central you don't need to catch a bus.

Anyway u do mech(space), is there a lot of practical work involved?

This year there wasn't much prac work because they had cluttering in the aero1560 workshop, but the mtrx1701 guys (ie regular mtrx people) got to do tons of stuff down at the TAFE near central, oxywelding etc.

What makes you think that USyd has a monopoly on "world known professors"? It is the university that has the international reputation, not necessarily its teaching staff.

Honestly mate...Usyd engineering owns Uts engineering

With regards to the first year prac stuff. Mechatronix and Mechanical students have a 3.5 hr workshop every week doing welding, forging, had a go on the lathes, fitting, CNC machines, and other stuff that has since slipped my memory.

My opinion is supported by a couple of guys in my class who have transferred to Usyd from Uts. They said as a whole the engineering they were doing (one civil and one mech i think) was just rubbish and they werent learning anything.
