Does the reflection statement need to include quotes from the prescribed text as well as links to the stimulus?

Yes, definitely!
although some reflective question- eg in the sample hsc paper can state
Describe how the writer creates a mood or atmosphere in this text. In your response make reference to at least ONE language device or stylistic feature. Where you do mention it but only the techniques of the prescribed but not so much of the prescribed text.
also if you do imaginative- it must have quote and analysis linking to your own text.
