Here's the way I like to convert streaming RM or RAM files, to MP3. First download & install Winamp 2.91 if you haven't already got it.

http://classic.winamp.com/

Then download & install the "Tara" plugin for Winamp (this is to let Winamp play real media files):

http://classic.winamp.com/plugins/detail.jhtml?componentId=22143

Now run Winamp and select the "Lame MP3 Writer" output plugin (from Options -> Preferences). Then click "Configure", to configure the MP3 settings and where to output the MP3 file. Then go to Play-> Location, and type in the address of the RM file you want to record. Then as soon as you press play, Winamp will download the streaming RM file, and output it to an MP3 file on your hard drive.

or you could convert it to CDA and burn to cd then extract using WMP9
That is the most round about way ever, which would probably result in a rather large loss of quality and a waste of a CD.

CDA i believe is the file extension for files on a normal Audio CD, though I think they are just wavs with a different file extension.

To rip from a CD, put the CD in the drive, and if you have software like-

- Windows Media Player
- Itunes
- Creative Playcenter

etc, theres usually a "CD" location, and you can copy music to the computer.

Alternatively, when you put in a CD, in XP a prompt will come up asking what you want to do. One of the options may be to copy the CD to the computer.
