i heard from several people that if you get 99.95 atar, you don't need anything else to get into med for USYD? no umat or interview.. is that true?

thanks :)

you definitely have to pass an interview
+1

You have to sit the UMAT at all universities if you wish to do undergrad med. It's a different story if you're doing the course as a graduate

BTW this post should be under Medicine and Medical/Health studies

so if you get under 99.95 = UMAT + interview
if you get 99.95 = interview only

Man. 99.95. Only like 50 get that every year.

UMAT. Lol. A test that you can't study for;a test that is $200 a try.
Like..wtf

UMAT is a personality test.
And I am pretty sure you HAVE to take UMAT when applying for undergrad med regardless of your atar.

pretty sure usyd doesn't offer undergrad med, but rather a combined degree with science or arts in which you complete the science/arts by itself before you begin to study medicine, its post grad

USYD doesnt use UMAT at all.
The combined med is an science or arts or music degree first and then the med one (so you don't start med until fourth year)
And you basically just get 99.95 and ace an interview to get in haha

Otherwise, just do a different undergrad course and apply for post grad med (which you have to sit GAMSAT for - UMAT but crazier, i tell you :O)
This path is the same number of years, you just don't have the guaranteed med spot.

For all the other unis (UNSW, UWS etc), UMAT is super-important and it's not just a personality test; it's logic and problem solving etc

GOOD LUCK :)

umm no.

while most universities do require umat... JCU undergrad and provisional entry into the Griffith program (which is pretty much undergrad) do not require umat at all in their selection criteria. i'm sure there are others too which im not aware about

99.95 ATAR + interview passed ==> Usyd combined med (arts/sci/med sci/eco/com/mus (for mus, 99.50 suffices, but there's an audition in addition to med interview))

most others: UMAT+ATAR+interview --> over a certain threshold (differs for each uni) ---> MBBS (BMed for UoN)

OR grad entry with GAMSAT replacing UMAT and GPA replacing ATAR
