heyhey

yeah i was just doing a question which asked me to list three possible sources of noise... up till now i've just used the example of cable wiring reducing the effect of distortions in television which occur when using an attenae that encounters magnetic fields etc etc

i'd just like to ask... can you simply list anything that can contribute to signal loss in general and regard it as a factor of "noise", like damaged communication lines?

also what can be done to prevent it? i.e. insulated wiring

where are you getting this question from?
from what i remember there is no part in the syllabus relating to noise pollution/interference

there is a section on damping (over, under and critical) in this section.

it's abit hard because electromagnetic forces should be one factor... u can hardly split it into three

causes of noise(interference) are:
- weather conditions, extreme temperatures.
- power surges, lightning strikes.
- radio interference from TV and Radio devices.
- electromagnetic interference from other devices.
- the more devices/nodes a signal passes through before it reaches its
destination can cause intereference.
- faulty cabling.
