Will they show the whole list of people by using their names or school number? I was just wondering 'cause I thought there will be student names shown as well while my friend thought there will be student numbers instead :p

It's usually the students' names which are published, followed by the university course offer that they were given.

Yeah, it'll be something like this:

Smith J, 237612;

And then they'll be a list of all of the university courses, by number.

Grffith University Nathan Campus:
237612: Bacheleor of Engineering (Advanced with Honours)

I think a reason they publish it in newspapers is to tell people who don't have good internet access (particularly in rural areas) what course they got into.
Besides, its not much different to publishing the Distinguished Achiever's list on the paper...

apparently they used to publish UAIs in the newspaper. instead they publish the uni offer, so there is no way of knowing what the person actually got, just a rough minimum (because of bonus points, etc.).
