Hi,

I think this has been asked before but most of the old posts are from the last 2 to 3 years so I'm not sure whether the rule is still the same.

So I wanna ask, from what I know, you can't overload in first year 1st sem, but you can in the 2nd sem right?

I've withdrawn from a unit of study because I just don't like it anymore, and there's no other units in the 1st sem that interest me. Hence I'm taking 3 subjects this sem, and planning to take 5 subjects next semester (30 cp). This can be done right, without permission or anything?

I'm doing arts/commerce btw.

There should be blocks, but if you want to overload then normally you'll have to request it. I know at other universities, you need to maintain a mid to high credit to be able to overload.

I am currently overloading 1st semester with 30cp.

You can definitely overload in the first semester.
To my understanding you can take up to 30cp without permission.

Anything above and you need written approval.
