I understand that there are a number of bands you can be allocated to for your marks, like band 1, band 2......band 6 etc, etc. Where does Band E3 come from though? Is this higher than a band 6? I'm just a little confused.

2 unit courses have bands ranging from band 1 to band 6

however, for a 1 unit course, the bands are as follows

E1... under 25/50
E2... 25-34/50
E3... 35-44/50
E4... 45-50/50

so no, band E3 is not higher than a band 6!

so 1 unit courses have bands ranging from E1 to E4, and 2 unit courses have bands ranging from band 1 to band 6

Bands E1, E2, E3, E4 are for extension courses, replacing the bands 1 - 6 that are awarded for normal 2U courses.

Edit: physician beat me to it!
