Every time I use my phone the reception is crap. It comes in and out and I miss sentences. The other person appears to be able to hear me.

So I thought it was my phone: but now I have a new phone and it still does it.
So I thought it might be my network provider: But today I was talking to someone with the same provider and although I couldn’t make out what they were saying they didn’t seem to miss a word that I said. I don’t think they were filling in gaps either, because I was spelling out words and it seemed like they got them all the first time.
I have previously also thought it might be the location: but I have been in a variety of places.

Also, thinking about it more, it seems to only happen when I am talking mobile to mobile. Landline to mobile is perfect.

Are there any other possibilities?
Is it even possible that they can hear me but my phone goes blank sometimes? How can they hear me perfectly but I miss halves of sentences? Wouldn’t the reception be bad on both sides?
Should I ring the phone company?

Thanks :)

ah damn, i already rang them, anyway they think it's their problem and fixed it (disconnected and reconnected the network) so i'll see if it works next time. it seemed like it was a common problem.

it sounds like you live in the middle of the bush. you'd think they could fix their towers.

Is your mobile of the same manufacturer/brand as your old one?

What I would do is ring your service provider in the first instance. See if they can detect a network problem. I'm guessing it is highly unlikely though, since your friend was able to hear you clearly.

If that doesn't work then I'm assumming your new phone is still under a 30 day or 1 year warranty since you said it was new. Either try and replace your phone or send it to repairs.

Ask for the SIM to be checked as well if it is possible.

Three uses other lines if it is out of their coverage. It shouldn't be too much of a problem.

thanks santaslayer, will do number II.
I only realised that I could have a faulty phone this morning
No it's not the same brand as my old one but it definitely is still under warranty.
If it still happens I will ring my provider and hassel them for any other solutions they might have because I don't want to send my phone off. If it doesn't work I'll part with the phone.

really? what about shopping centres with concrete and 5 levels of shops that use electronics that may interfere with reception...:p

true plus it also depends on the tower itself and how far away it is
