Is anyone else tired of these bands and singers continuing to complain through their song. I found it ironic that they talk about propaganda and the media, but i am under the impression that music is a media? I believe that if who they support fails, there song should be struck, because obviously its primary purpose has failed. I also find it strange that there songs blame people for brainwashing but there music is attempting to brainwash the youth.

The main problem with todays musicians is that they have lost all credibility. This is mainly due to the fact that there songs are usually covers of previous hits or they lip sync during concerts. When will these people learn that they are in fact failing in swaying voters? There influence was greater than ever and yet made very little impression on voters. I also find it amusing when people from the ABC bitch about the government and then start wondering why they get no funding. No Government really wants to support a station that undermines them, it just wouldnt make sense (I'm mainly talking about the left wing show the glass house).

Churches are still being torched by black metallers throughout Scandinavia. Some albums (see 'Aske' by Burzum) feature churches burnt by Nords, and quite a few random band members have been jailed for arson. Half of them are also serving time for killing random people, including another guy in the scene whom was stabbed 20+ times because he was suspected of being a homosexual. Also, Oi music and NSBM (Nationalist/Socialist Black Metal) is used to incite racial hatred, still.

Suprisingly, the nationalist front is rather strong in Australia, and alot of concerts are used as recruiting grounds for nazi groups.

So come on, there are some bands that are still credible.

i thought musics purpose was so people can express their feelings.....

so mr 'i dont know what the fuck im talking about' take ur ass out of this forum

its attempting to voice public opinions..not brainwash people

when jadakiss made the song 'why' he said the reason he made it was so many people in the black community feel that line 'why did bush knock down the towers' is an accurate theory....

doesn't mean their right, he's conveying the opinion of a community to a larger demographic.....nothing wrong with that

The idea of music is expressely about an expresssion of the personal feelings of (usually) the singer. This is overt in nature, the singer does not profess to be reporting news but singing opinion, expressed in news terms music is editorial.

In the NEWS media there are two distinct parts, editorial and news. The former being overtly the beliefs of one individual the later being explicitely the reporting of fact. The propaganda that musicians sing about is found in the cross-over between editorial and news in the news media. In this way a news piece may be covertly biased, through content, delivery, language or in a myriad of ways.

As far as the left-wing, pinko, pillow-bitting, tree-hugging, communist, ideologues at the ABC go. Jameseginton you assert your ignorance and or idiocy again. The idea of the ABC is to render a public good by providing an unbiased, completely independant source of news, support for Australian productions and add-free content. This is done through the ABC's provision with public money, when this is limited then it is impaired in meeting it's role.

Oh and the Glasshouse is a comedy in which Will Anderson, Dave Hughes, Correen Gant and guests present their views in an ammusing manner. It does not represent the position of the ABC, it is not a news programme it is a comedic opinion piece presenting the views of its panelists. If you don't like the Glasshouse don't watch it, you wont be missed similarly I avoid A Current Affair because I do not agree with the opinion pieces presented there.

The ABC itself does not whinge in public about its funding, its communications with the government may be leaked (at either end) however the ABC does not have as part of its news bulletin the government is really really crap because they dont give us money. On the contrary the majority of the debate over ABC funding is between right and left wing commentators in the commercial media, Piers Akerman, Miranda Devince, Gerard Henderson, Steve Price, McGuiness etc etc.

In future think through your posts, and indeed just think more.

One of the most neutral news sources around, though i favour SBS personally.

As a note labor governments and liberal governments have both complained about ABC bias, which is in itself indicative of a middle-line.

Are you seriously trying to tell me that the ABC is neutral? Have another watch.
OK then, what are some examples of ABC bias? Note, ABC bias, not "presenting the views of individuals, which may differ from your own so you attack them".
