So,

I am currently enrolled in a bachelor of Engineering (electrical) at UNSW but have decided I want to change to the integrated
BE ME in electrical engineering. I received a second round offer for the BE ME but I had already enrolled in my couses and thought it would be to hard to change(without really looking into it.)

So my question is is there a way to change my program without changing my subjects (which are required for both the BE and the BE ME) or my timetable or is it too late in the game?

for reference I got an atar of 98.00

For BE ME the recommended first semester structure is to take MATH1131/1141, ELEC1112, ELEC2141 and PHYS1131.

Note that COMP1917 and ENGG1000 are also to be done here, but ELEC1112 and ELEC2141 are only offered in Semester one every year so its recommended to follow the structure or you could be forced to take less units here and there in each semester.

I'm doing the BE ME and PHYS1131 is compulsory (you can not take PHYS1121). MATH1141 is recommended but not necessary. You are already enrolled into PHYS1121/1131 and MATH1131/1141 which means you will have to change your two other courses into ELEC1112 and ELEC2141.

Looking at the UNSW class utilisation (https://my.unsw.edu.au/classutil/) for ELEC courses, unfortunately the lecture spots are full (113/113) so before you change program, you will need to call the school office and enquire about them allowing you to take ELEC1112 or talk to Dr. Eaton (the program advisor) whom may help in showing you alternatives for the program. ELEC2141 still as a few lectures, labs and tutorials free so that would be ok. In saying that it is impossible to do ELEC2141 without ELEC1112 as ELEC1112 is a pre-requisite (or for BE ME its a co-requisite).

You really need to call, e-mail or on Monday I strongly advise you to see Dr. Eaton in person and ask about what you can do.

What courses are you currently enrolled in?

That's still ok I guess in getting units done (they all are required in first year so its fine). Though if you got such great marks in maths then maybe MATH1141 is worth it for you (it will be helpful later on).

Unfortunately, I think you might have to end up leaving ELEC1112 and ELEC2141 until next year if you choose to keep those courses and still do BE ME, which might drag on your program and make it a bit complicated.

Though you should really really talk to someone who can advise you on what you can do from here on to get your program completed on time.

I don't think you should let a few timetable problems determine whether you want to do a BE ME or just a BE. Its purely up to you and a minor thing like a timetable problem should not have too much of an effect on your performance in the program if you will enjoy it.

I would agree to change COMP1917 and ENGG1000 if you could get ELECXXXX. Both of the former can be done in 2nd semester. If you are only able to swap 1 of them, you should swap ENGG1000.
