just wondering, if someone bombed out of the trials, but pulled up in the 3 months before the hsc, can they get a decent ATAR?

how much will the bad internals affect the over all mark?

Personally speaking I haven't had any hands on experience.

But a cousin of mine absolutely fked around the whole year even after trials. She told me she failed 4/6 trials passing general maths with 58% and business with 70%. After that she knuckled down and during stuvac she was studying atleast 9 hours during the day (srs).

Ended up with a 79 ATAR, went to UWS (Commerce) and then transferred to macqu where she wanted to be and is in her final year :).

tl;dr Yes you can get a decent atar

It all depends on your definition of 'stuffing up trials' and a 'good atar'.

If you're mid range at a rank 200 school, you can still get an 85 ATAR if you have a strong external performance.

If you're last and second last in three subjects, and third last for two, you can't just expect to come out with a 90 ATAR.
