So I'm ranked 1st and 2nd in almost all of my subjects.

I know this is good, but dont really understand why.

Take for instance my IPT rank. I am 1st, with in internal mark of 99/100.

I've been told that Rank 1 means that the highest external becomes my internal.

I really doubt anyone in the class will get an external of 99 or above (myself included).

Lets say that the highest score is 80 by a friend, and I come second with 75.

Does that mean that my total score is 75 (my external) + 85 (my new internal) equating to 80 total?

Any help is appreciated

In your situation, your internal would be 80, your external would be 75 and your final would be 78 (average of 80 and 75 is 77.5, rounded it equals 78). The raw internal mark is meaningless (except to determine relative gaps between you and the rest of your cohort), its your rank which counts.
