Im in a bit of a rush, VERY sorry if one of these already existed, ive got to get to school for my I.T exam in 1hr (wish me luck

Anyway, for my trials i got ranks:
English Standard - 3/15 class rank - 3/15
Maths general - 1/22 - 1/22
Legal - 2/5 - 2/5
Ancient History - 3/12 - 3/12
I.T (VET) - 2/4 - 1/4
Im curious as to how these ranks affect my HSC, i.e. why do ranks affect my UAI more than marks and what would be the difference if i was coming like 10th in english, 2nd in maths, 7th in history etc.
One final question; does doing VET I.T mean im going to get scaled down compared to if i was doing say Software Design and Development?
