Explain the roles of the new kingdom pharaoh during the Ramesside Period.

Just some stuff on the role of the pharaoh. I don't have anything on religion :(

Heya:)

Good notes, thanks for posting. If they haven't been put into "resources" would you mind if I stuck them in there?

just a quick word on when you talk about ma'at; ma'at is intrinsic good. The Egyptians were a very racist bunch and thought they were the best, but they understood that other nations/creatures/people had a role to play in the universe. Ma'at is one part of the ying-yang, so to speak, theological duality if you want to be technical. Your next part that Pharaoh= ma'at is true.

Join the dots- there are TWO parts of the ying-yang. Horus and Seth. Seth is not "bad". Pharaoh is Horus.

For a really good summary of this, I recommend Barry Kemp's "Ancient Egypt; Anatomy of a Civilisation". Very good :)

Thanks again for the notes,
if you have anything else, give me a pm or an email.
