My school rank has been inbetween 150-200 for the past 5 years or so.

subj/avg mark/rank

english adv - 84 - 9/50
english ext1 - 75 - 6/12
software design - 83 - 1/5
ipt - 80 - 5/17
modern history - 85 - 1/12
ext. history - 80 - 1/7

what atar would i be looking at with those marks... considering i improve in the actualy hsc?

With those ranks, anything over 97+ is possible as it really is just based on how well you go in the HSC exams but try and ace IPT especially though :)

i think thats quite a high estimate, IPT rank 5/17 is about the 30th percentile in the school, but the school rank isn't that high, eng ext 1 is also 50th percentile in a low rank school. modern and ext history are good scaling and awesome rank, but its also hard to tell if that rank is a genuine good one due to the low candidature same with software, not trying to put you down; it probably is due to you being a good student but it is a lot harder to determine when the course numbers are low.

to explain the point above

9/50 could be written as 18/100

but sdd, 1/5 if extrapolated to /100 is 20/100 so if u were in a course that was out of 100, you could be anywhere between 1st and 20th so the uncertainty is high

i'm not skilled at giving estimates so i won't put one, just a note to point out.

I said 97+ is possible depending only if the OP gets band 6s in everything including IPT. And yeah IPT is a crappy scaling subject but the course itself is easy so getting a band 6 is quite possible.

but with those ranks there's no way OP will get b6s in everything, so really looking much lower. Wishful thinking doesn't equal reality, unfortunately.
