School certificate exams.
Anyone begun studying for them yet?
I have begun studying for them systematically and intensively for the last 5 weeks now and plan to do so untill the SC external exams.

When will you guys begin to study for them?
and
how many hours will you put in?

Don't ask me how many hours I've put in over the last five weeks...:p

okay 2 hours per day for 5 weeks now, and plan to continue doing so.

Does one need to practice? I am doing accelerated mathematics and, as such, am out of the 'Loop' of all this stuff, even though im doing the SC in maths this year.

What do you suggest i do, get some of the SC papers and do them, one a night.

Could you please explain what a 'Trial SC' is?

A trial SC
Perhaps, they use it to prepare you for the real SC. They probably use it to freak you out, to make sure you study for the real SC etc.

Exactly the same format as the formal School certificate i assume. well not so much assume as i've asked year 11s and year 12s about it.

hey dux and src kid. its not worth it buddy, save your energy.

SC means nothing, if you go on in year 11, that piece of paper will be worthless.

save your energy for the HSC.

Have you seen the past papers for sc ? They are so damn simple.
I'm not saying I'd get 100% but you don't need to study so much for them
SC is a joke .

omg, well, i can't say i prepared the night before, but you seriously don't need to do too much for the sc to do well. especially maths. i didn't study for it at all, and managed to get a 95.

although, i do highly recommend studying for history, geography and science.

history and geo, you write a TOTAL of 2 pages. maximum.

Oh, you guys make it hard for me to continue studying:lol:

But i am the dux of my year, and i want to save myself the embarrassment of not getting straight band sixes. And even if i do achieve straight band sixes i want to save myself the embarrassment from being beaten out of any of the:
SC english, maths, science, history&geography &civics, computing skills

... why do you feel so compelled to do better than everyone no matter what?
sorry if that sounds a little upfront, i dont mean it to be, but seriously, theres more to life than school

I don't see any embarrassment in being beaten... Sure the mentality of being 1st is good.. But I don't seen any point in studying that much for exams in November. I think you would be better off looking at some year 11 work in your subjects.

I've started doing a revision/study timetable. Its about 5/7 nights a week (thursday is work and sunday is my day off to laze around). Depends what night it is bout it's around about 2-3 hours of mixed.... not intensive study for the exams. Going over old notes etc. revising new work. I need to try and do that for history a lot this year because that's my weak point... :(

If I don't study for history or a little bit fo revising for maths I am gunna get really bad in history (the maths is only so I can get the best possible marks). You all must have quite good memories to remember a lot of the content studied in each subject that you don't need to study much/ at all and still get terriffic marks! :D

I envy you all.

No one is going to give a flying crap if you dont get all band 6's.

Stop studying.

Get a life

And save your studying for next year and year 12 when your actually going to need it

Harshly put, but well said.

SC = nothing basically

HSC on the other hand = best way to start off your desired career parth

not really, the exam is so easy its laughable, i failed every single assesment and test for both maths and science in year 10, yet i got a band 5 in both of them in the SC. ( didnt do any real study for the exam btw)

Lol. The same thing happens every year.

Year 10 kid: How much should I study?

Year 11 and 12 kids: Dont study

Year 10 kid does not take advice and studys a shitload.

Next year..

Previously year 9, now year 10 kid: How much should I study?

Previously year 10 kid, now in year 11: Don't!
