Hey guys, I've noticed a lot of people posting threads on here about the extended responses in section IV and how it's their weakest area. I think it's my weakest area as well to be honest with you and I always find myself cramming case study stuff right before the exam because I "never get time" to do it before. Anyways, I know the most recent and up to date information will catch the markers' attention. With a good knowledge of the content AND recent and relevant case study material my teacher said you would be looking at 17-20. Personally, I find it easier to remember things that happened recently so I came across a few articles today. I skimmed over them briefly. There has been so much going on with Qantas these fast few days that I'm praying section IV will include Employment Relations.

So I thought I'd post a few article links here for you guys. From what I've gathered by skimming over these articles I can tell it's on industrial conflict with some things specifically concerning industrial actions and dispute resolution processes (I'm referring to the Qantas vs Union battle happening at the moment - I'll put a link below). I also searched some other companies like Apple, iMax and Sony and I've noticed from the article headings that I guess we could use some things in section IV. This has made me start this thread in hope that we can all post articles we find and make a direct link to syllabus dot points so we can help each other be as ready as possible for Monday.

Some articles:
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2011-10-13/no-end-in-sight-to-qantas-stoush/3570336

http://www.smh.com.au/travel/travel...ore-delays-for-passengers-20111012-1ll2r.html (Overt industrial action: "Thousands of Qantas passengers face delayed and cancelled flights again today as baggage handlers and other ground staff strike for four hours at all of the country's major airports." - "Qantas said yesterday that the latest go-slow work by engineers had already caused 'significant delays' in getting aircraft maintained and back into service."

http://www.smh.com.au/business/qantas-pilots-get-paid-more-than-the-pm-20111013-1llqb.html

http://www.smh.com.au/travel/travel...s-and-qantas-to-negotiate-20111014-1lpaf.html (He said the pilots have resisted challenging rostering arrangements, but that could be the next step.''We'd rather negotiate, but negotiation is the art of compromise, and at the moment we've seen zero compromise from the company.'' - I'm assuming we could relate this to the dispute resolution processes dot point although the two parties have only been talking about it. I'm also wondering whether that quote would be of any relevance to the reasons for resistance to change dot point? I'm thinking with particular focus on financial costs and staffing. What do you guys think?)

Some search results for IKEA:

Ps. There has also been mention of the Fairwork Australia Act in some articles relating to Qantas. How could we possibly incorporate that into our response?

Hopefully this is enough to get this thread started. Oh, last thing. I looked at the thread about 'predictions' for this year's exam and the extended response was about Marketing. What would be some some recent information we could use?
