My ancient history essay requires me to assess 3-5 sources about Lycurgus.

In my intro, should I briefly introduce my sources?

If yes, how? What exactly should I say? The composer and a brief of their opinion? Just state the composers I will be speaking about?

Thanks in advance.

I don't know about where to put it, but you should assess the reliability of the sources [the composer's bias, things that might have affected the opinion etc]. We were expected to when we did a similar assignment, and were marked down if we didn't. Good luck :]

Yes I always think it's a good approach go do a brief description before analysis. But literally one sentence if possible, although that depends on the length and structure of the essay.

You could either do the descriptions in the introduction to the whole essay or in the introduction of each paragraph (if you're doing a para per source, for example).
