some exercises and examples please, i never grasped this (long division too lol).

3.070000000 to 4 sig fig = ?

the textbooks assume i know and ive just missed something basic from my primary education. please help lol thankyou

3.0700000000 = 3.070 (4 sig figs)
0.0000030700 = 0.000003070 (4 sig figs)
19 345 632 = 19 350 000 (4 sig figs)
1.2345678 x 107 = 1.235 x 107 (4 sig figs)

Basically, the rules for sig figs are ... reading left to right:
1. All non-zero digits are significant.
2. Zeros between non-zero digits are significant.
3. Zeros following non-zero digits (like your first example) may or may not be significant. (Don't lose too much sleep on this one.)
4. Zeros before non-zero digits are NOT significant.
