ok i just need to clarify...how do you simplify using sig figs
ie. 13^(-1.2) to 3 sig figs

does this become

a) 4.60*10^(-2)
or
B) 4.61*10^(-2)

basically i'm asking do also round off when using sig figs

What you did is put it in scientific notation, which isnt the same thing.

But yes, you do round off.

if you're ever unsure about rounding off to significant figures, let your calculator do it.
assuming you're using my calculator:... press mode until you get to 'Sci', then it'll say Sci 0~9,
press 3 for 3 significant figures. then press [shift] [ENG] until it's *1000.

though i dont have the same calculator as you...word. i'm stuck with a Sharp...not Casio
